Jalda Hoff is the owner and founder of JALDA, LLC, and the designer of its line of handbags and computer bags carrying her name.
Jalda was born in the Netherlands, and grew up both there and in England. She moved to Brussels when she was eighteen to attend College and Business School and then moved to Los Angeles in 1995, where she finally found the sun and has lived happily ever since.
Jalda's first career was based on "doing the right thing." She attended Belgium's top business school, was a consultant for McKinsey & Co., one of the world's most powerful strategic consulting firms, a strategist for Mattel, the world's largest toy company, and managed a business unit for Avery Dennison, a multi-billion dollar manufacturing company. However, she found that there was one thing missing from this career: creativity. It seemed that the "right" thing wasn't quite right for her.
Jalda aspired to combine what she had learned in the corporate world with her love for all things fashion and design. And it was her own experience as a fashion-conscious woman in corporate America that led her to the first idea behind her company: fashionable yet practical "work" bags for women. She like so many women traveled with her laptop and paperwork, and would have loved to carry them in a great-looking accessory. Yet the bags she found were either functional but unimaginative, or attractive but not practical. So she decided to create a brand that is a unique combination of both, and the JALDA "utility" bags were born.
As Jalda dove into the design world, her creativity and knowledge of the industry grew. Then one day her brother's bride-to-be asked Jalda to design a bag for her wedding. At the wedding the reaction to the bag was so positive, that before she knew it, she was creating handbags for her friends and family from a variety of colorful and unique leathers. And so her next collection was born: fun, fashionable handbags and clutches for every occasion, hand-made in the USA out of the finest and most unique Italian leathers.
Combined, the line offers a large variety of unique and beautiful bags for women with dynamic lifestyles and a love for fashion. Since the launch of her line in late 2002, the bags have found their way into high-end boutiques and department stores across the country, onto the shoulders of numerous celebrities, and are continuing to make a statement on women everywhere.
